Frequently asked
What Maestra does, how early access works, and how your music and data are handled.
The AI agent for Ableton Live. You type what you want, and Maestra reads the session, works in bars, tracks and devices, makes the change and reads it back to confirm it landed. It remembers your project between sessions.

Link to this answerNo. Maestra Agent works on Intro, Standard and Suite. In-loop listening uses a Max for Live device, which needs Suite; on any edition you can drag in a bounce for Maestra to analyse instead.

Link to this answerThe tedious work and the ambitious work. It colours and renames a project by track type, duplicates and routes tracks, trims levels, sends and device settings across many tracks at once, sets up bus chains and sidechains, builds layered racks with macros and modulation, makes variations, and lays out a performance set. It controls the mixer, scenes, clips, routing and warp markers, and it listens through Ear.
Link to this answerYes. Tell it once how you name your buses or where the vocal sits and it keeps a note for that project, on your machine, and reads it the next time you open the session. On request it can also read your own projects to learn your style: the tempos, devices and names you reach for.
Link to this answerYes. Point Maestra at a folder of Live projects and every chain you built becomes a preset in your User Library in one pass, samples and all, so nothing goes missing when a drive does. It previews the result before writing, files it project by project, and from then on the agent can load those racks whenever you ask for that sound. It runs on your machine and writes only where you tell it to.
Link to this answerIt asks before anything destructive, every action is on screen, and your project is never uploaded. A few things are impossible through Live's API for every tool, such as saving, exporting, reordering and grouping tracks, and Maestra says so rather than pretending.
Link to this answerYes. Maestra uses Live's own undo stack, and it confirms before anything destructive.
Link to this answerYes, through Ear. It hears a few bars of your session and tells you what is going on in the mix: level, balance, punch, width, groove and key. On Suite it can listen while you work; on any edition you can drag in a bounce for it to analyse.
Link to this answerLeave your email on the download page and we send you the link by email. If it has not arrived after a few minutes, check your spam or Promotions folder.
Link to this answerNothing. Early access and the free plan that follows it are free, with no card, and nothing bills you automatically at any point.
Link to this answerA credit is one exchange with the model. One message you type can cost several, because Maestra works through a request in steps and each step is an exchange. A simple request usually costs one or two, and a big one costs more. You can see what you have left at any time in the app.
Link to this answerFrom Monday 12 October, new codes start with 150 free credits and get 150 more on the first of each month. Codes from early access, before then, started with 750. Your balance is always visible in the app, and listening uses credits in the same way as chatting.
Link to this answerYour code gets 150 free credits on the first of each month, on top of whatever you have left, so you can wait for the next top-up. If you want more sooner, Pro is €9.99 a month and gives you 1500 credits a month. Nothing is charged unless you choose Pro.
Link to this answerCodes from before Monday 12 October have early access until 31 October 2026. Sign-ups from 12 October start on the free plan instead. Either way your code keeps working after that, with 150 free credits on the first of each month.
Link to this answerUse it on real work and tell us what annoys you. A short call is welcome, but optional.
Link to this answerAfter early access your code keeps working with 150 free credits on the first of each month. Sign-ups from Monday 12 October start on that free plan, with 150 credits to begin. If you want more, Pro is €9.99 a month and gives you 1500 credits a month. Nothing is charged unless you choose Pro.
Link to this answerPayment is handled by Stripe, so we never see your card details. VAT is added at checkout based on your country, and business customers can enter a VAT number there.
Link to this answerEU and EEA consumers normally have a 14-day right to withdraw from an online purchase. For a download you take immediately, that right can be waived when you ask for immediate access. The refunds page has the detail.
Link to this answerYes. The free plan gives you 150 credits on the first of each month, with no card. Sign-ups from Monday 12 October start on it with 150 credits. Codes from early access, before then, started with 750 and move onto it after 31 October. Pro gives you 1500 credits a month if you need more.
Link to this answerWith usage data on, yes: the app sends us the text of your requests and Maestra's replies, after it automatically removes the file paths, links, email addresses and long numbers it can recognise, and we keep it for 12 months to improve Maestra. The chat itself keeps no copy: our model provider in the EU keeps nothing after the reply and trains on none of it, and our proxy logs counts and timings, never content.
Link to this answerNo. Style analysis and preset building run on your own machine. Your project files are read there and are never uploaded.
Link to this answerYes. The app sends us the text of your requests and Maestra's replies, after it automatically removes the file paths, links, email addresses and long numbers it can recognise on your computer, plus which tools ran and whether it worked. We use it to improve Maestra and keep it for 12 months. It never includes your music, audio or project files. Early-access members and Pro subscribers have one switch in Settings that turns it off (Pro subscriptions from before October 2026 start with it off). On the free plan it is part of the plan; to object, write to support@maestralabs.com.
Link to this answerYou do. Your sessions, your sounds and your rights stay yours. We make no claim on them.
Link to this answerNo. Maestra Agent operates your own Ableton session, and it generates no audio and no finished music. You confirm anything destructive, and you see every action it takes.
Link to this answerThe stage, played by hand. Motion turns hand movement into MIDI and OSC control of Ableton Live, and of light, lasers and image, with our own low-latency driver and gesture models trained in-house.
Link to this answerIt works with Manus motion-capture gloves. The driver, the Mapping Matrix, Wirecap replay and the Drum AI model are ours. A webcam hand-tracking input is in development as a separate build.
Link to this answerMotion is in development and has no release date yet. If you perform with motion-capture gloves, tick them on the download page so we know you are interested.
Link to this answerOne is in development with a partner. It is coming soon.
Link to this answerAsk Maestra in the chat, in your own words. It is the help for anything about using it: what it can do, where a setting is, or how to do something in your session. If the install or activation will not go through, email support@maestralabs.com. During early access a person answers the email, with no ticket system.
Link to this answerAsk Maestra in the chat. If something breaks mid-session, tell it what you asked and what happened, and it will help you work out the next step. Email support@maestralabs.com only when the app will not install or activation fails, and include the version shown in Settings under App.
